Things to do in Moc Chau

Moc Chau is a tea and fruit-growing plateau roughly 200 km west of Hanoi, a drive of four to five hours rather than the shorter runs to Mai Chau or Pu Luong.

The plateau is planted with tea terraces, plum and peach orchards, and fields of seasonal flowers, and it draws visitors when one of these crops is blooming - plum and peach blossom in the cooler months, wild sunflowers later on.

There is no single fixed week for any of this: flowering shifts from year to year with the weather, and a trip timed for one year's dates can easily miss it the next. Tea is picked on a rolling basis, so the hillsides stay green outside the flowering windows too, and are worth seeing even without a bloom.
